“Personal growth, learning and satisfaction make it well worth the effort!”

As an NSPRAP assessor and former CAPP mentor, I have had the very great pleasure of assisting courageous, compassionate and highly capable foreign-trained physicians find their place in Canada as medical professionals, citizens and members of our wonderfully diverse community.

I cannot speak highly enough of the overall experience of working with the assessed physicians and the administrative staff of the Program.  I am constantly amazed and inspired by the tenacity, diligence and bravery of the physicians we assess, and the support from the Program has been first rate.

Yes, there is a lot of paperwork associated with each 6-week assessment period, but the payoff in terms of personal growth, learning and satisfaction make it well worth the effort.

I strongly recommend this program to any experienced Canadian physician who wants to help in the recruitment process.

“I get the opportunity to assess physicians who might eventually become colleagues and help to alleviate some of the practice burden family physicians in my community face on a daily basis.”

I took on the desire to be a primary assessor because of my own personal journey navigating the health system in the United Kingdom.

I have encountered first-hand, the challenges and difficulties international medical graduates experience in their pursuit to get integrated into the medical system in a new country.

The candidates assigned to me were quite knowledgeable. They were warmly received in the New Waterford community and quickly integrated into the medical community.
